About
I make characters.
I’ve been in Pictoplasma’s character design book, made a 750-piece limited edition doll for Momiji, shown in galleries, and put original textile prints into children’s bedrooms through national retail.
The one I’m proudest of is the Brownie Elf. Girl Scouts of the USA hired me in 2007 to build the Brownie Quest character cast, and nineteen years later it’s still on the badges and books they sell. Still one of the best jobs I’ve ever had.
The textile prints are at Sweet Jojo Designs, where I’ve been since 2011. I create the artwork and build the seamless repeats, then write the specs and tech packs. Production runs with factories in China I’ve worked with for fifteen years. Strike offs, lab dips, production samples, final run. Pantone for flat color, printed standards for the watercolor and gradients that spot color can’t hold. Most of my attention goes to the gap between the file I send and the fabric that comes back.
Three years as Creative Director at Livid Records, where I ran the art side outright: brand identity from the logo out, album artwork and packaging across twenty releases, print and manufacturing, and the advertising that carried it all.
The work I keep going back to: Yoshitomo Nara, Mary Blair, Margaret Keane, Leo Espinosa.
Bilingual, English and Spanish. Boca Raton, Florida.
